circa: 2005
I try to be completely honest with others and myself.
I am horrible with e-mail. I don't even write my mother.
I'm a photography whore. I still like film… I should say big light catchers. In this area film still reigns supreme... There is a relationship between the focal length of the lens, the aperture and the size of the "sensor" or film. This affects depth of field, perspective and the smoothness of an image. I prefer the rendering provided by big cameras. In most ways digital cameras kick ass. But the the big head syndrome created by wide lenses in front of small sensor get tiresome to look at. I still feel this way but I'm slowly being seduced by the low cost and instant gratification of digital cameras... the fact the lots of depth of field is blessing in at least half of all photographic challenges is bearing down on my stubborn soul like a small air craft carrier
I'm really impressed if you've made it this far. Either you are tenacious, interested in photography, a big geek or just stubborn.. I can admire pretty much any of those traits.
Tequila is my weapon of choice unless I'm really tired in which case I switch to redbull/vodka (Yuck!).
By nature I'm very social, but I do crave and enjoy lots of "Joe Time"
There are 49 pictures on my the walls of my living room. I live in a two bedroom house in west Medford. with my DAUGHTER AVERY. did you catch that I'm Dad. She is brilliant. She learned the ABC's in 10 minutes.
Nope 3 bedroom in a much nicer neighborhood.. still west meddy which i'm fine with
I'm fundamentally a capitalist with hang-ups, I believe markets are more efficient for dishing out goods and services than pretty much every other system devised... unfortunately markets and the corporations they operate within them are completely blind to anything but the bottom line which is in reality very bad for all but a very few white guys on this planet. I think we've allowed corporations to have WAY WAY WAY TOO much (did I mention WAY?) influence on our government. I think money is making a total mockery of our "cracy" Yep only more so.
I care much more about function than style... actually its more a matter of money, when I have it, suddenly style starts to matter. Maslow would understand See: Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. This has proven to be true. Now that I'm not regularly faced with choices between gas, food or rent, I care alot more about what i look like. I love to dance. I used to Lindy (East Coast Swing) 4 nights a week when I lived in D.C. I haven't found regular spot since I moved here. I talk with truckers all day for a living. I drive an ancient Toyota (thank you grandpa! Nope. Have a bitchin honda civic wagon 4x4 with a 6 speed now. My neutral buoyancy is happiness. Yep.
Life general has been spectacular. Looking back on the last year or so makes my head spin. My quality of life has become better by a factor of 10. I have a place to live that's huge, a good relationship with Nation Slayers mother, a reliable car, good money and toys!! Cameras randomly litter my office and living room, bike in the garage, good
snowboard gear ( some good snow would be welcome at this point).. A savings account with a comma in it is an amazing thing.. I haven't had that since… uh…. Never!! Its about freaking time. The career choices I've made over the last 4 years have started to pay off. It is so satisfying It changes my whole perspective on everything. I worry less, I have CHOICES, and opportunities that I couldn't even dream about 2 years ago.
This year I hope to become a homeowner and grow my business to where I can hire someone else. I'm kind of sitting back saving cash and waiting for prices to get beat down some more.
