Busy.

Holy shit BUSY!!

Had a guy ask me to do aerial photos of his real-estate development from his Robby R44 on 30 minutes notice.  I try to never miss a ride in a helicopter.

Work has had me up @ 4:30 AM every day since wednesday, which is tiring but I need the money so I can't complain... moved 6 loads in 2 days.. thats a lot for me.

Avery and I are going to the coast with friends. I need to get out of this town.  I'm going to throw rocks in the ocean, take lots of bad photos and fly a kite.

life the universe and everything // 42

Ok.. how did it get this late already?  I was supposed to be all responsible tonight. One or two drinks downtown then get home at a decent hour clean/laundry/practice (bass) and go to bed.   I managed the drinks, I even got home at a reasonable hour.. but now its 1 AM.  Laundry/cleaning/bass? Yeah right.  YouTube and MySpace are evil.

Life recently, while it still has its occasional, stinging disapointment, has been pretty fucking spectacular the last few weeks.  I've met so many cool interesting people.  Punk Rock Girls, Hot Rodders, Photographers, Musicians, Nerds, Craftsmen, Moms, Dads...    I feel like I've been let out of a cage.  I forget how socially wired I am... I LOVE to be out and about.  I love meeting new people.

I've put alot on my plate..  I've got  a bunch of cars to shoot.  I'm in garage band (literally), I'm got dance lessons, bass lessons, a writing projecct and a business plan I'm working on.  I've got 4 trips planned: Moab (family),
LA (lindy hop) Nevada (CAKE!!), NorCal (Wookie Racing)... some where in the middle of this mess I manage to waste a fantastic amount of time here on MySpace.  Its amazing that I am even making a living in all of this.  Then there is that whole parenthood thing that I do once and a while.. It will be interesting to see what gets the boot.  This is shaping up to be a great year.

Evolutionary Satisfaction.

I was just trying to put my finger on why I felt so euphoric as I watched daughter shove down a final piece of toast after eating two bananas, a bowl of minestrone soup and another piece of toast.  There is something so satisfying about watching your child eat a lot of food.  It must be some a biological/survival/evolutionary type of hard wiring inside parents... or maybe I'm just a freak.

What a week..

Monday:  Work.  Photograph Hotrod, Poker  Tourney @ Howies. My big blind special 5s and 8s, 2 paired on the flop,  I go all in and get beat by 3 of a kind. Ended up closing place.   Why would I stay up so late when I have to work @ 5 AM ? Will someone please explain it to me?

Tuesday: Work.  1st Bass lesson!! I'm gonna be a rock star NEE-NERR NEE-NERR NEE-NERR!!  Get first 2 rolls back from Hotrod shoot in Ashland… stay up till 2 am fooling with them.

Wednesday: Work.  Work dinner… VP came into town to kick ass in the Medford office.  I'm glad I don't work there.  Lindy lesson.  Howies, drink, holy shit that place was packed for a Wednesday night.  Stay up way too late again.

Thursday: Work.  Get Nation Slayer, get last roll of hotrod shoot (Ashland), harbor freight tools… must find End Mill… no luck.  Medford tools Bingo. Dinner, Groceries, Avery to bed.. fool around with photos till 11 ( In bed early!!)

Today:  Sleep all the way till 6:30… its so nice.  Work a bit, get Avery to school.  Sneak out in the afternoon to meet with potential race team sponsor.  Work, get Avery, watch her run through the sprinkler 10 times. Change her clothes. Snooze on the couch for an hour while she intermittently runs in and jumps on my chest.  Dinner, I let her wear her fairy wings to the restaurant and during the following grocery run.

Savoy Style Lindy Hop

I lived in the DC Metro for about a year. You could swing dance 7 nights a week. There is a HUGE East Coast/Lindy community there and alot of great instructors and dancers.  This is one of the ballrooms I used to dance at... I miss it... This couple rips, but with the exception of the throws they are doing leadable social dance moves that any two people who know how to dance could do, it short it is NOT choreographed.

I'm looking to venue in downtown to host a weekly dance here in town.. it doesn't need to be too big, just need a floor with not too much traction.  Lemmy know if you've got any ideas.

Also-  Evergreen Ballroom is just started a lindy series, its Wednesday nights @ 5:30, no partner needed.  $10 drop in / $30 for the whole series.
